In a recent article called Rh Negative percentages in African countries might be much higher than we´ve previously thought I was highlighting the claim by Rhesus Solution Initiative (RSI) that 44.7 percent amongst the Yoruba race are supposedly rh negative.
I have not been able to confirm such high numbers, but looking into a few existing studies, I have found that in fact the numbers of rh negatives amongst the Yoruba people appear to be a lot higher than the Central and West African average.
One out of 6 Yoruba People in Port Harcourt, Nigeria were found to be rh negative.
Around 9.5% of the people tested within the region were rh negative.
Well known celebrities of Yoruba descent include international singers Sade Adu and Seal (real name: Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel).
