10 Things That People Are Afraid Of – A List Of Phobias
Some of those phobias comes to no surprise. People are afraid of so many things and it’s really a reflection of our times
to read about all of the things one can be afraid of.
A couple of phobias I have expected to find however, I didn’t.
“All we have to fear is fear itself” should mean phobophobia would be the only reasonable fear.
A fear of knowledge exists, but not a fear of ignorance.
Here are some strange ones you may or may not be familiar with:

9) Omphalophobia – fear of bellybuttons

Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia – Fear of long words. Seems they created this one so none of those suffering from it will ever be able to say what they have been diagnosed with.
7) Xylophobia, Hylophobia, Ylophobia – fear of trees, forests or wood. I guess when you never get out of the city and watch a few episodes on trees falling on people, nature can be quite scary.
6) Epistemophobia: This is also referred to as the fear of knowledge. Probably because it is easier to get along when no one considers you a threat.
5) Nomophobia – fear of being out of mobile phone contact.
4) Sciuridaephobia – the fear that somewhere, somehow, a squirrel is watching you.
3) Prostitute phobia: a persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of prostitutes, venereal disease, or stds , despite the understanding by the phobic individual and reassurance by others that there is no danger. 2: prostitute phobia: a strong fear of, dislike of, or aversion to prostitutes, venereal disease, or stds.

2) Radiophobia – fear of radioactivity or X-rays. Not so unreasonable.
1) Friggatriskaidekaphobia, Paraskavedekatriaphobia, Paraskevidekatriaphobia – fear of Friday the 13th.
Since I believe in being the media ourselves, I have added Sheeplephobia:
- Sheeplephobia – A fear of ignorance and ignorant people and the effect that they can have on others. Also a fear of being outnumbered and overlooked despite of having the winning argument.
